Eugene Kok

Profile

Eugene has over 30 years experience in magazine and book publishing, advertising, writing, editing, and brand strategy.

Over the course of his career, he has led MPH Magazines and helped establish it as the premier lifestyle and fashion magazines in Malaysia. He was also the Project Director at Reed Exhibitions (UK) and Regional Sales Director of DZ Security, a leading plastic-card manufacturer from Denmark.

Among the many magazines and books that he has published, written in, or edited include illustrious magazine titles such as the leading fashion magazine, Female, The League, Geare, and The 2002 and 2006 Official World Cup magazines; some of the books that he has helped publish are Bodhisattva Vows, Peranakan Weddings, and Highways of the Mind. He has also produced two landmark illustrated books for the Ministry of Sports: 50 Years of Malaysian Sport, and the Sports: The Malaysian Almanac.

From 2009 - 2014 he was the Creative Director for the advertising campaigns of the Ministry of Health, and later in 2015, he acted in a similar capacity for the Ministry of Transport.

Eugene is a professional voice coach and has conducted numerous voice workshops on it. He clients include the Road Transport Department, political institutions, CEOs, senior managers, and aspiring leaders seeking to increase their leadership presence to inspire and motivate other people in every interaction. He teaches and coaches people to lead with an authentic voice. As a performing musician, he borrows the methods and principles of the performing arts and integrate them into his workshops.

He continues to write and edit copy for various clients of diverse industries including food and beverage, financial technology, change management, and lifestyle, but he is more inclined now toward training and coaching leaders and aspiring leaders to increase their leadership presence by focusing on their voice. He also helps them to improve their communication skills through better written communication with his Creative Writing for Business courses.
